“Transparency is the only thing that builds trust,” says Melinda Mills, Director of the LCDS and lead author of the British Academy and Royal Society report on ,COVID-19 vaccine deployment. The report offers policy recommendations for dealing with the spread of misinformation about the vaccine, including enabling the public to spot misinformation and raising the accountability of media companies.
Open dialogue is needed, advises Professor Mills. “We need to respect people’s emotions and understand their concerns rather than be reactive and provide one-way communication.”
