The Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science is recruiting one additional graduate student for an MPhil + DPhil on a topic within any of our research themes. The MPhil – equivalent to a 2-year research Master’s degree – is in the stream of Sociology and Demography. This is combined with additional funding for a DPhil (PhD) project in what Oxford terms the 2 + 2 programme.

The scholarship is for a period of 4 years and covers the cost of tuition fees (University and College) in addition to maintenance allowance which is approximately £15,000 a year.

The Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science is an international centre that embraces innovation and diversity and welcomes applications from all countries, nationalities and backgrounds who are passionate about demography.

Prospective applicants should follow these links to find more information about the MPhil in Sociology and Demography and our DPhil programme.

The expectation is that the student will work in the area of demographic science and align with the vision of our centre and those working within it (see People). Students do not necessarily need to have an undergraduate degree in sociology or demography and can have backgrounds such as: sociology, demography, statistics, epidemiology, medical sciences, geography, economics, econometrics, environmental studies and beyond to highlight some of the main areas.

To apply for the scholarship, please apply for admission to the Department of Sociology in the usual manner and state that you would like to be considered for the MPhil in Sociology and Demography with the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Sciences Scholarship.

The deadline for application is midday on Friday 21st June 2019.
