Leo Azzollini
Leo Azzollini holds a joint post as a Postdoctoral Research Officer in the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science and in the Institute for New Economic Thinking within the Department of Social Policy and Intervention (DSPI). Furthermore, he is a Non-Stipendiary Research Fellow at Nuffield College.
His key research area is Sociology of Inequality: understanding the causes and consequences of inequalities through sociological and demographic lenses. To address these phenomena, Leo integrates approaches from different social-scientific perspectives, including economics and political science.
Currently, his research explores Sociology of Inequality from two perspectives. As a joint researcher between LCDS and the Distributional National Accounts ERC Project, he focuses on the interplay between socio-economic inequalities and demographic behaviour, with a geographic focus on OECD countries. Secondly, Leo focuses on how social stratification shapes socio-political behaviour with a life course lens, examining outcomes such as electoral participation and political trust.
Leo Azzollini holds a PhD in Public Policy at Bocconi University in Milan (2021), with a thesis on “Social Stratification, Life Course, and Political Inequality”. Previously, he completed a M.Sc. in Political Economy of Europe at the London School of Economics (2015) and a B.Sc. in International Economics at Bocconi University (2014).
